Heading - Assess Your Drinking

Cartoon of man watching television. caption "How do I know if I drink too much?"Welcome to the part of the web site that will help you to assess how risky your drinking is and how ready you are to change the mix.

The information you enter here is used to make recommendations that fit your personal circumstances. This is because alcohol consumption can have different effects on different people, depending on things like gender, age, health and social circumstances.

By following the instructions below you will be able to complete the questions and then receive your personal feedback. You cannot be identified from this information and we will not use it for any other purpose than to give you personal feedback and to monitor use of the web site. Your answers will remain private and confidential.

The assessment is in four sections and will only take a few minutes to complete. Each section is explained below.

Subheading - Step 1: Your Details

Some information that will help us with your personal feedback and give us an idea of the usefulness of the interactive assessment processes for various members of the veteran community.

Subheading - Step 2: AUDIT Assessment

The AUDIT (Alcohol Use Disordered Identification Test) is a standard alcohol assessment questionnaire developed by the World Health Organisation and used extensively in Australia. Before you fill in the AUDIT Assessment, you will need to be able to report your alcohol consumption in terms of Standard Drinks.

Subheading - Step 3: Readiness to Change Assessment

This is a standard assessment that is widely used to determine where you are in the process of making changes to your drinking. The feedback on your assessment will be tailored to your current thoughts about your own drinking.

Subheading - Step4: Risk Group Assessment

The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) in its Australian Alcohol Guidelines has identified some population groups for whom alcohol consumption may have particular risks. Your feedback will incorporate this risk assessment.

You are now ready to go.

Enter your details, complete the questions in each section and then click on the "submit" button for a personalised assessment of your drinking. Remember that there are no "right" or "wrong" answers - the more honest you are, the more accurate the feedback will be.
